Matt Riddle to face Che Mills at UFC on Fuel 7

Matt Riddle will return to the cage when the UFC makes another trip to England next year despite making comments stating he didn’t want to make a return to fight across the pond.

“I will be completely honest,” Riddle said post-fight at UFC 149. “When I fought in Manchester, England, [for UFC 105], they were very cruel to me. One fan actually spit directly in my face, and he was lucky enough where it hit my mouth. To be completely honest, I don’t have anything against English people. But … I’ll go over to London, and I’ll put ‘em down.”

Riddle will return to England to face English welterweight, Che Mills who is coming off of a TKO win over Duane Ludwig. Mills will be fighting for the third time in four fights in his own backyard.

Riddle’s last win over Chris Clements at UFC 149 was overturned due to a positive test for marijuana post-fight. Riddle earned “Submission of the Night” honors for the win. This will be Riddle’s second trip to England after he lost to Nick Osipczak at UFC 105. It was the only time Riddle has been finished in his career and was also his first career loss.

Bellator rematch clause starts in 2013 and will not be for past fights

Starting in 2013, Bellator will be bringing rematch clauses into their champions’ contracts. These rematches will be for any fight that was exciting and close and will allow former title contenders to get another title fight by jumping over the tournament.

Unfortunately for past fighters, these clauses will not be retroactive and will not apply to the past title fights under Bellator. Meaning Eddie Alvarez wouldn’t be allowed to use the clause to earn a rematch with current lightweight champion, Michael Chandler.

Bellator closes out on MTV 2 later this month and will begin airing on Spike TV beginning in January of next year.
