For the second straight week, Bellator has lost one of its main card fights due to odd circumstances.

The MMA Corner has learned from sources close to the fight that the season-seven lightweight tournament final bout between Marcin Held and Dave Jansen has been removed from this evening’s Bellator 84 lineup. The reason for the fight’s removal is Held’s age.

The event takes place in Hammond, Ind., at the Horseshoe Casino, and the gaming commission requires that fighters be at least 21 years of age in order to compete at the venue.  Unfortunately, the Polish prospect Held is just 20 years old. Therefore, Bellator was forced to remove the fight from its season-seven finale event.

Sources say that Bellator plans to reschedule the fight for sometime during season eight, though no official date has been determined as of yet.

Held, who will turn 21 on Jan. 18, kicked off his professional MMA career in 2008 at the age of 16 and already has 17 fights under his belt.  He has competed five times under the Bellator banner, losing to current lightweight champion Michael Chandler before winning four straight with the promotion, including two fights in the current season-seven lightweight tournament.  Held’s bout with Jansen was the final of that tournament and will determine the next challenger to Chandler’s title.

Held and Jansen made it as far as yesterday’s weigh-ins, with both making weight for the contest. The fight was not removed from the lineup until the day of the event.

Bellator’s eighth season kicks off in January and finds the promotion on a new network as it switches from current broadcast partner MTV2 to new partner Spike.
