Fedor Emelianenko’s younger brother Aleksander retires from MMA

Thirty-one-year-old Pride veteran Aleksander Emelianenko is hanging up his gloves due to old injuries catching up with his current ability to perform.

He most recently lost by submission to Jeff Monson in November. He will retire with a record of 21-6.

UFC 157 gains two bouts

Undefeated lightweight and TUF season 15 winner Mike Chiesa meets Anton Kuivanen at the Feb. 23 event.

Also, heavyweights Brendan Schuab and Lavar Johnson will meet at the event. The two were originally scheduled to meet at UFC on Fox 5 but Johnson was forced to cancel due to groin injury.

Patrick Cote moves to welterweight

The former UFC middleweight title challenger was considering a drop in weight and decided to announce the decision after a rematch with Alessio Sakara at UFC 158 was cancelled.

However, Cote is expected to remain on the March 16 UFC 158 card and is awaiting an opponent for his new home at welterweight.

UCMMA light heavyweight belt on the line in Feb.

Ultimate Cage MMA light heavyweight champion Linton Vassell expects to meet journeyman Zelg Galesic as the main event of UCMMA 32.

UCMMA 32 takes place Feb. 2 in London.
