However, Strikeforce is set to shut down after Jan. 12, so ‘Jacare’ is hoping that his newly signed contract will transfer over to the UFC. Souza is expected to fight Ed Herman on the Jan. 12 card, which is the last bout on his previous Strikeforce contract. Source: MMAFighting Strikeforce’s Hirota vs. Yahya, Guimares vs. Lim added to UFC on FUEL TV 8 The UFC returns to Japan’s Saitama Super Arena on March 3, and two bouts have been announced for the FUEL TV card. Former Strikeforce fighter Mizuto Hirota will drop down to 145 pounds to take on Rani Yahya, and Marcelo Guimaraes will fight UFC newcomer Hyun Gyu Lim. Hirota-Yahya is expected to be on the main card, with Guimaraes-Lim on the Facebook prelims. However, it is not official. The event will be headlined by “The Axe Murderer” Wanderlei Silva vs. Brian Stann in a light heavyweight bout. Source: MMAJunkie UFC 157, Rousey and Carmouche get ‘UFC Primetime’ treatment Ronda Rousey takes on Liz Carmouche at UFC 157 Feb. 23 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif., which is the first women’s fight in UFC history. Because of this, the two fighters will be featured on UFC’s Primetime special, which highlights fighters has they prepare to step into the Octagon. The three-part special is set to kick off on Friday, Feb. 8 at midnight ET on Fuel TV, with the other two episodes to follow weekly in the same timeslot. Source: MMAJunkie Angelica Chavez Joins the XFC Roster The MMA Corner has learned from a press release that Xtreme Fighting Championship has signed women’s atomweight fighter Angelica Chavez to a multi-fight deal. The 4-2 Chavez will be the first atomweight to join the promotion. She will make her debut in early 2013, but no opponent has been determined thus far.
