Eddie Alvarez and Bellator MMA engage in legal battle

Dana White meant it when he said that the negotiations between the UFC and Bellator over the contract of Eddie Alvarez would get ugly, and after Alvarez’s appearance on The MMA Hour today, we know why. Alvarez made it public that while the offer made by the UFC did not amount to what the UFC offered for Hector Lombard, the offer made for Alvarez turned in a fair amount on the table, and that despite earlier reports, Bellator in fact did not match the UFC’s offer.

Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney shot back later, saying that they matched the contract verbatim and dollar for dollar, and they now aim to engage in a legal battle with Alvarez, according to the former Bellator lightweight champion himself. Alvarez also took to Twitter to predict that his only chance at nullifying Bellator’s matching rights would come if he sat 2013 out. This saga will keep fans wondering who will make the next move as the weeks and months progress.
