Dan Hardy vs. Matt Brown Slated for April 20 A welterweight contest between Dan Hardy and Matt Brown has been signed for the UFC on Fox 7 event. Hardy has resurrected his career with two straight wins while Brown is riding a four-fight win streak including a recent victory over Mike Swick. The UFC on Fox 7 event will be headlined by a lightweight scrap between UFC champion Benson Henderson and Strikeforce champ Gilbert Melendez. It is also expected to feature a heavyweight clash between Daniel Cormier and Frank Mir. Source: ESPN Final Strikeforce Event Draws Dismal Ratings The final event in Strikeforce’s history went out with barely making a sound, let alone a bang. The event drew a 0.82 and 310,000 viewers among Showtime subscribers. That ties the lowest ratings for a Saturday night MMA event in Strikeforce’s history. Strikeforce’s final card was headlined by a welterweight title contest between Nate Marquardt and Tarec Saffiedine. Also featured on the card were Daniel Cormier, Josh Barnett, and Gegard Mousasi among other notable Strikeforce contenders. Source: MMA Fighting Mike Goldberg Set to Return at UFC on Fox 6 UFC play-by-play announcer Mike Goldberg will make a return to the broadcast booth at the UFC on Fox 6 event after missing UFC 155. The UFC announcer missed the event due to health reasons which caused the Internet to begin swirling with rumors about his status. UFC on Fox 6 takes place on Jan. 26 from the United Center in Chicago, Ill. The event will be headlined by a flyweight title bout between Demetrious Johnson and John Dodson along with a light heavyweight contest between Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Glover Teixeira. Source: MMA Junkie MFC Finalizes MFC 36 Main Card MFC 36’s main card has been finalized by the promotion. The card will now feature a trio of middleweight contests. Jay “Da Spyda Killa” Silva will face Leo “Bushido” Bercier and Jason “The Savage” Zentgraf takes on Luke “Hayabusa” Harris. MFC 36 will also feature a middleweight title fight between champion Elvis “The King” Mutapic and “Smilen” Sam Alvey. The card is slated to take place on Feb. 15 and will be broadcast on AXS TV.
