Joe Proctor vs. Al Iaquinta joins ‘UFC 159: Jones vs. Sonnen’ card

The UFC 159 card continues to grow, as a lightweight has been added to the event on April 27.

Two members of Team Faber on the live season of The Ultimate Fighter will meet as Joe Proctor takes on Al Iaquinta.

Also, Yancy Medeiros faces off with Rustam Khabilov in a prelim bout.

UFC 159 takes place from the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., and features Jon Jones vs. Chael Sonnen in the main event for the light heavyweight championship. Proctor and Iaquinta are likely to fight on the FX prelims.

UFC on FUEL TV 8 main card and Facebook prelims finalized for Japan event

UFC on Fuel TV 8, the UFC’s return to Japan, has been finalized.

The card featuring Wanderlei Silva vs. Brian Stann in the main event has been finalized, with the prelims airing on Facebook and main card on Fuel TV to follow.

The event takes place on March 3 from the Saitama Super Arena in Japan. The full card is listed below:

Bellator 88’s 11-bout lineup complete, Bezerra vs. da Silva headlines prelims

The 11-fight bid for Bellator 88 on Feb. 7 is complete, featuring Alexander Shlemenko taking on Maiquel Falcao in the main event for the vacant Bellator middleweight championship.

Also on the card is the entire quarterfinals for the featherweight tournament, which features Marlon Sandro battling Akop Stepanyan, Mitch Jackson squaring off with Mike Richman, Fabricio Guerreiro battling Magomedrasul Khasbulaev, and Alexandre Bezerra vs. Genair da Silva to begin the tournament on the Spike.com prelims.

Bellator 88 takes place from the Gwinnet Center in Duluth, Ga., with the main card beginning at 10 pm ET on Spike TV.

Middleweight Quarterfinals Compliment Dantas-Galvao Bantamweight Title Tilt at Bellator 89

Bellator officials announced the date for the middleweight quarterfinal bouts, which will be on Feb. 14 at Bellator 89.

The four fights will go along with a bantamweight champion Eduardo Dantas and tournament winner Marcos Galvao, which will headline the card at the Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, N.C.

Brian Rogers will take on Dan Cramer, Brett Cooper battles Norman Paraisy, Andreas Spang fights Doug Marshall, and Mikkel Parlo squares off with Sultan Aliev.

The winner of the eight man tournament will receive $100,000 and an automatic title shot.

FightMetric Teams Up with Ultimate Fighting Championship to Offer UFC Fighter Rankings

FightMetric, the official MMA statistics partner of the UFC, has joined up with the promotion to create a UFC fighters rankings system.

The system will poll the sports media worldwide on UFC.com has part of a poll, which will open to media immediately after each live event.

“UFC Fighter Rankings are a great tool for new and existing fans alike to learn and better keep up with the fast pace of the UFC,” said UFC President Dana White. “We always look for opportunities to engage fans and media, allowing them to connect and voice their opinions, and this just one more way of doing that.”

The voting will be for each weight class in the UFC, as well as pound-for-pound rankings. Media voting is by invitation or by applying online at UFC.com/rankings.

XFC 23 set for April 19 in Kentucky

After shows in Florida, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Greece, Xtreme Fighting Championships will travel to the Bluegrass State for its second show of 2013.

The promotion will pack the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville, Ky., to host XFC 23 on April 19, live on AXS TV.

The newly announced women’s division will be on display, as XFC has already announced that Stephanie Eggink will take on Angela Magana in the co-main event, along with atomweight Angelica Chavez making her debut with the promotion.
