The MMA Corner has learned from sources close to the fight that Invicta Fighting Championships has added a featherweight clash between Mollie Estes and Veronica Rothenhausler to its upcoming fifth event, expected to take place on April 6 in Kansas City, Mo. Although no venue has been revealed at this time, it is believed that the Ameristar Casino Kansas City is the leading candidate for the event.

Rothenhausler scored an impressive first-round knockout over Katalina Malungahu in her pro debut at the promotion’s fourth event in January. The Team Alpha Male product went undefeated as an amateur, winning all three contests by strikes. The 23-year-old has never made it out of the first round.

The 37-year-old Estes dropped her Invicta debut against decorated wrestler Randi Miller at Invicta FC 1. The Missouri native has gone 1-1 as a professional after going 7-1 as an amateur.

As announced during its fourth event, the April card will also feature two title fights.

Recently-crowned atomweight champion Jessica Penne will make the first defense of her belt against “The Karate Hottie” Michelle Waterson.  Penne earned the promotion’s first title at Invicta FC 3 by submitting Naho Sugiyama. Meanwhile, Waterson claimed a narrow split decision win over Lacey Schuckman at the same event.

Also, the promotion will crown its inaugural flyweight champion as Barb Honchak battles Brazilian Vanessa Porto. Honchak has picked up two wins under the Invicta banner and is currently riding a six-fight winning streak. Porto fell in her Invicta debut to Sarah D’Alelio, but scored a dominant win over MMA pioneer Tara LaRosa in her 125-pound debut.

Broadcast plans for the event have yet to be announced, but the promotion’s attempt at a pay-per-view stream on Ustream at its most recent event did not go smoothly. However, Invicta President Shannon Knapp has not ruled out using that avenue once more.
