‘Jacare’ vs. Philippou slated for Belfort vs. Rockhold card in May

Another former Strikeforce middleweight will make his debut in the UFC as Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza will fight Costa Philippou.

The UFC announced days ago that Vitor Belfort will square off Luke Rockhold in May, another match-up of two of top 185 pound fighters in the world.

Brazilian website Tatame is reporting that the event will take place at Arena Jaragua in Santa Catarina, Brazil on May 18.

Cyborg’ signs with Invicta, debuts April 5

Former Strikeforce featherweight champion Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos has signed with Invicta Fighting Championships.

“Cyborg” will take on Ediane Gomes on April 5 at Invicta FC 5. Gomes’ original opponent, Julia Budd, will now welcome Fiona Muxlow to the promotion.

Also, the promotion announced that the winner of the bout will earn a title shot against Marloes Coenen in the future.

Bellator returns to University of South Florida on March 28

Bellator will head to the Sunshine State once again to host the tournament finals in both the featherweight and lightweight divisions.

Also, fan favorite and top ranked 115 pound female fighter Jessica Aguilar will be in action.

The event will take place from The Sun Dome, airing live and free on Spike TV.

Spike TV’s Bellator 89 Averages 719,000 Viewers For Thursday Night Main Card

On Thursday night, Bellator 89 averaged 719,000 viewers on Spike TV.

The numbers were the second lowest since joining with Spike, but gained additional viewers in the replay afterward to increase the total to over a million.

Bellator 89, which took place from the Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, N.C., featured Eduardo Dantas defending his bantamweight title against Marcos Galvao.
