UFC 161 Official for Winnipeg, Rua-Nogueira and Evans-Henderson Targeted

The UFC will be making its first ever trip to Winnipeg for UFC 161. The event was officially announced today along with a pair of light heavyweight fights targeted for the event.

UFC President Dana White said the company is looking to put together the rematch between Mauricio Rua and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira along with a pivotal light heavyweight tilt between Rashad Evans and Dan Henderson.

Bellator’s Welterweight Tournament Finals Rescheduled

The finals of Bellator’s welterweight tournament have been delayed until later this year. Ben Saunders and Douglas Lima were scheduled to meet one another on March 21 but will now have to wait due to a broken hand suffered by Lima.

Both Lima and Saunders looked impressive in their roads to the finals so perhaps the rematch will be worth the wait.

Tim Kennedy to Meet Roger Gracie at UFC on FX 8

Strikeforce veterans Tim Kennedy and Roger Gracie have agreed to face one another and will be placed on the UFC on FX 8 card. UFC on FX 8 is scheduled to take place on May 18 from Brazil.

Kennedy amassed a 4-2 record in Strikeforce with the two losses coming to middleweight champions Luke Rockhold and Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza. Gracie went 4-1 and appears to have discovered the proper weight class for his MMA career.

Soa Palelei to Face Stipe Miocic

Australian heavyweight  Soa Palelei will be making his return to the Octagon at UFC 161. Palelei has only competed once in the UFC; a third round TKO loss to Eddie Sanchez at UFC 79 but is riding a 10-1 streak.

Miocic’s last Octagon appearance as a loss to Stefan Struve this past fall but had ran his UFC record to 3-0 prior to the Struve loss.
