We knew Jose Aldo would be putting his belt on the line against Anthony Pettis in August but a venue had yet to be named. A number of cities were considered but in the end the UFC will be making a return to Rio de Janeiro.
The report states that Texas, Chicago, and Las Vegas were all in the running but in the end the UFC appears to have settled on the HSBC Arena in Rio.
History will be made at MFC 37 as the Canadian-based Maximum Fighting Championship has announced that a pair of brothers will not only compete on the show, but compete against one another.
It will be the professional MMA debut for both Mike and Thomas Treadwell. The two brothers even share a condo together in Edmonton. MFC 37 is set to take place on May 10 from the Shaw Conference Centre in Edmonton.
A middleweight contest between Derek Brunson and Ronny Markes appears to be booked for the UFC on FUEL TV 10 card. Brunson, a three time NCAA Division II All-American wrestler, was victorious in his UFC debut over Chris Leben at UFC 155. Markes has gone undefeated inside the Octagon and sports a 14-1 record overall.
UFC on FUEL TV 10 takes place June 8 at Ginasio Paulo Sarasate in Fortaleza, Ceara, Brazil. The headliner is expected to be a heavyweight tilt between Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Fabricio Werdum.
A pair of bouts have been added to the UFC 161 card today. Canadian prospect and former MFC champion Ryan Jimmo will face Igor Pokrajac in a light heayvweight contest. John Maguire will drop down to lightweight and will be welcomed at 155 pounds by Mitch Clarke.
UFC 161 is scheduled to take place on June 15 from the MTS Centre in Winnepeg and will feature a headliner of interim UFC bantamweight champion Renan Barao facing Eddie Wineland.
