On Sunday, March 17, Titan Fighting Championships founder Joe Kelly appeared on Kansas City’s 102.5 FM “The Fan” and revealed that the promotion would be returning to action on June 7 in Fort Riley, Kan.

The promotion, which has put on 24 events dating back to 2006, was slated to be purchased by Resurrection Fighting Alliance in late 2012 and Kelly was reportedly given a position with RFA. As part of the purchase, the broadcast deal with AXS TV Fights and fighter contracts were to be transferred to RFA.

However, based on Kelly’s announcement, it appears that the deal was not finalized and the Kansas City-based promotion is still very much alive.

Kelly also revealed that the June event would air live on AXS TV and would be headlined by a rematch between James Krause and Clay French. French defeated Krause by split decision at Titan 19 in July of 2011.

Since that time, Krause has appeared on The Ultimate Fighter: Live and reeled off seven straight wins, including five under the RFA banner. The fighter also made an appearance on the radio program to speak about his upcoming bout.

“The UFC is not signing anyone right now because of all the Strikeforce fighters that moved over,” Krause explained. “I’m looking forward to testing myself against French once again. I’ve faced a lot of strikers lately and haven’t tested my wrestling since the first fight with French.”

French, meanwhile, has been out of action since his first encounter with Krause in 2011. The Pride and Sengoku veteran will be looking for his 20th career win against Krause.

The MMA Corner was able to confirm that the freshly resurrected Titan promotion would not have any direct impact on RFA. The promotions will operate as separate entities with each having independent AXS TV broadcast deals.

More fights for the June 7, Titan 25 event are expected to be announced in the near future.
