UFC Announces tryout for The Ultimate Fighter 18

The UFC released information regarding the try outs for its upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter. The show will feature both male and female bantamweights along with prominent coaches Ronda Rousey and the winner of Cat Zingano vs. Miesha Tate.

The official try outs are scheduled to take place in the ballroom of the Palace Station Hotel in Las Vegas on Mon. April 15. As usual fighters will be expected to grapple and hit mits in an effort to showcase their skills.

Darren Elkins Steps in for Injured Clay Guida Against Chad Mendes at UFC on Fox 7 

After an injury forced Clay Guida out of his scheduled contest against Chad Mendes, UFC officialls have announced that Darren Elkins will step in. Elkins is riding a five fight winning streaking since dropping to featherweight which includes his most recent victory at UFC 158. Mendes, a top 10 featherweight, undoutbedly will be Elkins toughest test to date.

The two are scheduled to meet on the UFC on Fox 7 card next month. The card is expected to feature a lightweight title unification bout between UFC champ Benson Henderson and Strikeforce champion Gilbert Melendez along with a heavyweight clash between Frank Mir and Daniel Cormier.

Cage Warriors Set to Feature One-Night Tournament to Crown Featherweight Champion 

Cage Warriors announced today that they intend to hold a one-night tournament to crown a new featherweight champion. Two semi-final bouts, consisting of two five-minute rounds will be featured on Facebook. A third five-minute round will be contested in the event of a draw.

The final, made up of five five-minute rounds, will be one of the featured bouts on the main card, with the winner becoming the first ever CWFC flyweight champion. The tournament will go down in Dublin, Ireland, on Saturday, June 1, for Cage Warriors 55.

Amanda Nunes Out, Lauren Taylor in against Kaitlyn Young at Invicta 5

Amanda Nunes has been forced out of her scheduled contest against Kaitlyn Young at Invicta 5 with an injury. A sprained elbow is reported to be the nature of the injury. Stepping up to face Young will be undefeated KO artist, Lauren Taylor.

Taylor has finished all five of her professional MMA bouts via TKO while Young has earned six of her seven wins via TKO. Invicta 5 takes place from the Ameristar Casino Hotel Kansas City on Friday, April 5. The event is scheduled to feature two title matches as well as stars like Zoila Gurgel and Cris Cyborg.
