Georges St-Pierre Lands Villain Role in Captain America Sequal

Georges St-Pierre has accepted the role of Batroc the Leaper in the upcoming sequel, Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The film is set to begin scheduling next month but GSP is not expected to be on the sidelines for an extended period of time.

St-Pierre has appeared in minor roles films like Death Warrior and Never Surrender but his appearance in the Captain America sequel will be his first mainstream venture. The film, which is based on a Marvel Comic and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, hits theaters in April 2014.

World Series of Fighting 2 Shows Slight Increase in Viewership

The second event for the World Series of Fighting promotion showed a slight increase in viewership. WSOF 2 did a 0.19 rating and 210,000 viewers on NBC Sports which bested  the 198,000 viewers who watched the first event.

WSOF 2 was headlined by a heavyweight bout between former UFC champion Andrei Arlovski and former UFC welterweight contender Anthony Johnson. In a bout packed with heavy punches, Johnson earned a unanimous decision victory over Arlovski.

Nick Diaz’s Camp Plans to File Complaint Over UFC 158 Weigh-In, Drug Testing

Nick Diaz’s camp plans to file a complaint with Quebec’s athletic commission in the wake of a UFC 158 weigh-in controversy, according to the fighter’s representative, Jonathan Tweedale. What Diaz’s camp is referring to is a widely circulated video posted last week about a number of changes being made just prior to the UFC 158 weigh-ins, including the allowance of weight over 170 pounds.

Diaz’s camp also plans to file a complaint due to “the Quebec Commission’s failure to supervise fighters’ provision of samples in connection with testing for Prohibited Substances and Prohibited Methods (under sections 71.1 to 71.6 of the Regulation).”

UFC Veteran Christian Morecraft Retires from MMA at 26 Years of Age

Christian Morecraft, a heavyweight fighter who competed four times in the UFC is stepping away from his MMA career at the age of 26. Morecraft posted a message about his concerns of life after fighting being a major factor in his decision.

His one UFC win came against Sean McCorkle in March 2011, while he suffered knockout losses to Stefan Struve, Matt Mitrione and Pat Barry. The fight with Barry, which took place in Jan. 2012, looks to be his last as he didn’t compete after it.
