Wanderlei Silva says he’s fighting Gegard Mousasi at UFC on Fuel TV 9

After news of a facial laceration broke this weekend, speculation surrounded Alexander Gustafsson and whether he would receive clearance to fight Gegard Mousasi at UFC on Fuel TV 9. However, “The Axe Murderer” Wanderlei Silva confirmed that he accepted the opportunity to replace Gustafsson this Saturday. Mousasi would tweet his acceptance of the challenge, but also admitted that he held no knew information on Gustafsson’s situation.

UFC president Dana White adamantly reasserted that “The Mauler” would fight on Saturday night. Whether or not White’s assertion came as a response to “April Fools Day humor” in some MMA circles remains a mystery. However, the MMA world will receive answers sooner than later on what we will really see in Sweden this weekend.
