TUF 17 Medical Suspensions

The Ultimate Fighter 17 went down this past weekend, and the Nevada State Athletic Commission released its list of medical suspensions. Of the fighters suspended, 16 of them will face something longer than the mandated precautionary month-off. The full list of suspensions stands as listed:

Urijah Faber: Suspended until May 14 with no contact until May 5 due to right hand pain.

Scott Jorgensen: Must have his right wrist x-rayed. If positive, then he needs an orthopedic doctor’s clearance. He faces a minimum suspension until May 14 with no contact prior to May 5.

Kelvin Gastelum: Must have right forearm x-rayed. If positive, then he needs an orthopedic doctor’s clearance. He faces a minimum suspension until May 14 with no contact prior to May 5.

Cat Zingano: Must have left hand x-rayed. If positive, then needs an orthopedic doctor’s clearance. She faces a minimum suspension until May 14 with no contact prior to May 5.

Miesha Tate: Must have ear, nose, and throat doctor’s clearance on her nose or she is suspended until Oct. 11. She faces a minimum suspension until June 13 with no contact prior to May 29.

Gabriel Gonzaga: Suspended until May 29 with no contact prior to May 14.

Bubba McDaniel: Suspended until May 29 with no contact prior to May 14.

Kevin Casey: Suspended until June 13 with no contact prior to May 29.

Luke Barnatt: Suspended until May 29 with no contact prior to May 14 due to right eye laceration.

Collin Hart: Must have nasal fracture and left ankle cleared by a doctor or he is suspended until Oct. 11. He faces a minimum suspension until May 29 with no contact prior to May 14.

Jimmy Quinlan: Suspended until May 29 with no contact prior to May 14.

Bristol Marunde:Suspended until May 14 with no contact prior to May 5 due to a laceration.

Cole Miller: Suspended until May 5 with no contact prior to April 29.

Maximo Blanco: Suspended until May 14 with no contact prior to May 5.

Sam Sicilia: Suspended until May 14 with no contact prior to May 5 due to right thumb injury and right eye laceration.

Justin Lawrence: Suspended until May 14 with no contact prior to April 29.

Andrews wants UFC 160 slot

Fresh off of his win over Jimmy Quinlan at The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale, Dylan Andrews does not wish to wait for his next fight. Rather, he aims to join the likes of James Te Huna and Mark Hunt on a loaded UFC 160 card in Las Vegas this May. No word exists on who Andrews would face if granted this opportunity.

Gono returns from retirement at “DEEP 62 Impact”

Last May, Akihiro Gono retired after losing to Bellator lightweight champion Michael Chandler. Now he returns to action next Friday against Taisuke Okuno at DEEP 62 Impact. The event, live from the Tokyo Dome City Hall, will feature the likes of Takafumi Otsuka, Yoshiro Maeda, and 26-year-old standout Shota Shidochi. The event will feature Yuya Shrai vs. Dan Hornbuckle in the co-main event, and Daisuke Nakamura vs. Saotru Kitaoka in the headliner.

TUF 18 tryouts see LaRosa, Davis, Modaferri appear

The Ultimate Fighter 18 will pit one co-ed team of bantamweights, coached by undefeated UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey, against another co-ed team of bantamweights, coached by undefeated title challenger Cat Zingano. While Ulysses Gomez and Pat Schilling both found their re-entry hopes nixed due to their past UFC careers, the likes of Roxanne Modaferri, Tara LaRosa, and Shayna Baszler turned out to represent the women’s field. Additionally, the likes of LC Davis, Claudio Ledesma, and Clint Godfrey tried out to represent the men’s field.
