This summer’s Invicta Fighting Championships 6 event is starting to take shape.

In addition to the inaugural featherweight title fight between Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino and Marloes Coenen, the promotion’s sixth installment will feature Carla Esparza’s first defense of her 115-pound, strawweight title. Esparza’s opponent is expected to be undefeated Jewels champion Ayaka Hamasaki, who will make her promotional debut.

Also slated for the card is another 115-pound affair between Australia’s Bec Hyatt and 18-year-old Japanese fighter Mizuki Inoue. Hyatt, a two-time Invicta combatant, fell short in her title quest against Esparza at Invicta FC 4, but rebounded with a first-round submission of Jasminka Cive on April 5. Inoue will compete outside of her native Japan for the first time in her young career.

The promotion has yet to formally announce a date and location for the event, but speaking with The MMA Corner, Invicta FC President Shannon Knapp ruled out June 29 as the date for the card. Based on the promotion’s penchant for scheduling events on weekends that do not feature UFC events, July 13 is the next available option.

Additionally, Knapp revealed that the promotion would be staying in Kansas City for the foreseeable future. After holding its first four events at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kan., the promotion switched to the Star Pavilion at the Ameristar Casino in Kansas City, Mo. for its fifth event. All indications are that Invicta FC 6 will again emanate from the Ameristar, but Knapp also hinted that the promotion may look to the 5,800-seat Independence Event Center for future events.

Broadcast plans for the event are yet to be determined. Invicta FC 5 streamed via pay-per-view on the promotion’s website for $9.95.

More fights for the event, as well as the official date and venue are expected to be revealed in the near future.
