Diego Sanchez Returns at UFC 164 in Milwaukee

Former Ultimate Fighter winner Diego Sanchez has announced he’ll step back into the Octagon when the UFC heads to Milwaukee at UFC 164. Sanchez is coming off a razor close decision victory over Takanori Gomi in his last fight. No official opponent has been named but Sanchez mentioned a few names like Josh Thomson, Gilbert Melendez, Pat Healy, and Jamie Varner among others.

UFC 164 is slated to go down on Aug. 31 from the Bradley Center.

UFC on Fox 7 Drug Tests Come Back Clean

All four headliners from UFC on Fox 7 were tested and passed. Two other fighters were randomly tested and also passed. UFC on Fox 7 was headlined by a lightweight title fight between Benson Henderson and Gilbert Melendez. Henderson was able to retain his title after a controversial split decision.

In the evening’s co-main event Frank Mir was out muscled for three rounds by Daniel Cormier. The Strikeforce Grand Prix winner pushed his undefeated record to 12-0.

Former UFC Veteran Tyson Grifin Signs with World Series of Fighting

Former UFC veteran Tyson Griffin has signed with the World Series of Fighting promotion. Griffin was once one of the top lightweights in the world as he won seven of his first nine fights in the Octagon. A 1-4 run in the promotion forced the UFC to cut ties with Griffin but he recently picked up a victory over former Ultimate Fighter winner Efrain Escudero at RFA 4.

Griffin now trains at AKA and hopes to be on WSOF’s Aug. card.

The numbers for The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale have been released. They are as follows:

Gate – $569,075

Tickets Sold – 5,382

Tickets Unsold – 223

XFC Anounces Co-Main Event for XFC: 24

Xtreme Fighting Championship has announced their co-main event for the XFC: 24 card which is scheduled to go down on June 14. Reggie Pena will face Nicolae Curry in a middleweight contest. Pena is coming off a submission victory over former UFC competitor John Salter while Curry won a unanimous decision victory over Roger Carroll.

XFC: 24 will take place on June 14 from the USF Sun Dome and will broadcast on AXS TV.
