Bellator 96 main card set

The Spike TV televised main card of Bellator’s inaugural Summer Series event of 2013 has been announced, and will be headlined by a lightweight title fight between champion, Michael Chandler and Dave Jensen.

The June 19 event from Winstar Casino in Thackerville, Okla. will also feature two light heavyweight tournament matches and a featured welterweight bout. “King Mo” Lawal vs. Seth Petruzelli, Renato “Babalu” Sobral vs. Jacob Noe, and War Machine vs. Blas Avena round out the main card.

Leslie Smith signs new deal with Invicta

Leslie Smith, a veteran of two fights for Invicta Fighting Championships has signed a multi-fight agreement to stay with the promotion

For her return bout since the new contract signing, Smith will drop from bantamweight to flyweight and challenge Jennifer Maia in a No. 1 contender match at Invicta FC 6 to determine who will next face Invicta flyweight champion Barb Honchak.

Kongo’s contract not renewed by UFC

Veteran UFC heavyweight Cheick Kongo has fulfilled his contract with the UFC and the promotion will not be resigning him.

Kongo leaves the UFC after 18 fights with a record of 11-6-1. He most recently lost to Roy Nelson via KO at UFC 159.

Koscheck vs. Maia added to UFC 163

Welterweights Josh Koscheck and Demian Maia are set to meet at the Aug. 3 event from Brazil.

UFC 163 will be headlined by a featherweight title fight between champion Jose Aldo and Anthony Pettis.

CWFC signs Europeans Whiteford and Glover

Cage Warriors Fighting Championship has signed a pair of European fighters; both to five-fight deals.

Joining the CWFC ranks will be Scottish featherweight Robert Whiteford and English lightweight Mark Glover.
