Zingano tears ACL; Tate gets title shot, TUF 18 coaching gig

UFC women’s bantamweight No. 1 contender Cat Zingano has suffered a torn ACL and will be out of action for 6-9 months. As a result, former Strikeforce champion Miesha Tate will now fill Zingano’s coaching gig on The Ultimate Fighter 18 against Ronda Rousey.

Tate will also face Rousey for the promotion’s 135-pound title later this year. Rousey defeated Tate by first-round armbar in the spring of 2012 to earn the Strikeforce title.

Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos Top Earners for UFC 160 Salaries

UFC Heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez and former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos took home the most money for their performances at UFC 160. Velasquez took home $400,000 and JDS took home $240,000 which included a $120,000 win bonus.

Velasquez defended his title in dominant fashion against Antonio Silva and dos Santos capped off a dominant performance with a spinning back kick KO.

Nick Newell Signs with World Series of Fighting

Former XFC champion Nick Newell has signed with the World Series of Fighting promotion. Newell is expected to debut later this summer at a yet to be announced event. Newell sports a 9-0 professional record along with a Brazilian jiu-jitsu brown belt. Eight of the nine victories have come via submission or KO.

Newell gained fame under the XFC banner for competing despite being born with one arm but was released after reportedly refusing to defend his title when the XFC asked him to.

Avi Jack Injured; Forced off Cage Warriors 55 Card

An injury to Avi Jack has forced a scheduled welterweight bout with Philip Mulpeter to be removed from the Cage Warriors 55 card. As a result, Jean N’Doye vs. Steve McCombe has been promoted to the main card.
Cage Warriors 55 goes down this Saturday at The Helix in Dublin, Ireland.
