Strawweight champion Carla Esparza out of Invicta FC 6 due to knee injury

A knee injury to Carla Esparza has forced the Invicta FC strawweight champion out of her title fight against Ayaka Hamasaki.

However, Hamasaki will remain on the card and take on Claudia Gadelha, who was expected to fight Joanne Calderwood.

Invicta FC President Shannon Knapp said that the promotion will wait to see how severe the injury to Esparza is to determine if Hamasaki-Gadelha will be for an interim title.

A replacement opponent to fight Calderwood is in the process.

Invicta FC 6 takes place on July 13 from the Ameristar Casino Hotel in Kansas City, Mo.
