Lima injured, tournament final postponed

Douglas Lima has suffered a rib injury and is out of the season eight welterweight tournament final. The fight, a rematch with Ben Saunders, was slated for the July 31 Bellator 97 event. The fight will be rescheduled for a later date.

This is the second change of date for the two fighters. Lima and Saunders were initially set to meet in March, but the fight was pushed to July due to a broken hand suffered by Lima in his semifinal tournament win.

CSAC puts TRT exemptions on hold

Fighters applying for testosterone-replacement-therapy exemptions with the California State Athletic Commission are unlikely to receive permission until the commission updates its regulations.

CSAC Executive Director Andy Foster stated that fighters whom previously received exemption have the possibility still receive one in the state, but no new exemptions will be handed out for the time being.

The commission’s goal is to create new bylaws that create a more strict and clear approach to fighters hoping to receive exemption for TRT in the state of California moving forward.
