Joseph Benavidez meets Jussier ‘Formiga’ on Sept. 4

Although no location has been revealed for the UFC’s Sept. 4 event on Fox Sports 1, a pivotal flyweight contest is being targeted for the card.

Multiple-division title challenger Joseph Benavidez is expected to take on Brazilian submission ace Jussier “Formiga” Da Silva.

More fights, as well as the event location, are expected to announced in the near future.

Nandor Guelmino vs. Derrick Lewis joins Aug. 28 event in Indianapolis

A pair of heavyweights will make their promotional debuts on Aug. 28 at the UFC’s second event on Fox Sports 1 as Strikeforce veteran Nandor Guelmino takes on Derrick Lewis.

The event takes place from the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis and is headlined by a welterweight rematch between Carlos Condit and Martin Kampmann.

Seth Petruzelli calls it a career

The “Kimbo Killer” is hanging up his gloves.

Light heavyweight veteran Seth Petruzelli has decided to retire following his knockout loss to Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal at Bellator 96 this past week. Petruzelli is a veteran of The Ultimate Fighter, the UFC and EliteXC. His first-round stoppage of Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson under the EliteXC banner on network television remains one of the most infamous moments in the sport’s history.

The fighter thanked his family, friends and fans before citing that he was no longer competing for the right reasons.

World Series of Fighting 3 gate and attendance

The Nevada State Athletic Commission has revealed the final numbers from June 14th’s WSOF 3: Fitch vs. Burkman II event.

The event brought in $106,573 in live gate with 1,107 tickets sold; 1,394 “comp” tickets were also given out for the event.
