Ronda Rousey vs. Miesha Tate II slated for UFC 168 

The two coaches of the upcoming Ultimate Fighter season will face off at UFC 168. Ronda Rousey will defend her UFC women’s bantamweight title as she faces Miesha Tate for the second time.

Rousey was originally scheduled to coach against/fight Cat Zingano but an injury forced her out of action. Now Tate will look to hand Rousey her first MMA loss and exact some revenge.

Dave Herman passes pre-fight drug test

Heavyweight Dave Herman has been cleared for his UFC 162 clash with Gabriel Gonzaga after passing a pre-fight drug test.

Nevada State Athletic Commission Director Keith Kizer revealed the news. Herman has twice tested positive for marijuana and is coming off a suspension following UFC 153 last fall.

Siler replaces Corassani, faces Mike Brown at UFC on Fox Sports 1

Akira Corassani has been forced out of his Aug. 17 contest with Mike Thomas Brown due to a training injury. Stepping in to replace Corassani will be Steven Siler.

Siler has won four of fight UFC bouts since appearing on TUF 14 while the former WEC champion Brown will be making his return to the Octagon after sitting out for over a year.

MMA referee Josh Rosenthal sentenced to 37 months in prison 

MMA ref Josh Rosenthal has bee sentenced to 37 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to numerous drug charges related to a 2012 arrest. Federal agents raided a warehouse in Oakland and found over 1,000 marijuana plants. Authorities estimated the operation was valued at over $6 million.

Rosenthal will not be eligible for parole during his prison term.

Collection of superfights headline UFC’s Grappler’s Quest

The UFC’s grappling tournament at the UFC Fan Expo known as, Grappler’s Quest, will feature a collection of superfights. Most notably, Jim Miller will take on Cole Miller in a submissions only match.

Former flyweight title contender John Dodson will face Scott Jorgensen as well. Fredson Paixao will challenge defending Superfight Champion Jeff Glover, UFC veteran Ulysses “Useless” Gomez faces Kristian Woodmansee, an instructor from Robert Drysdale’s gym in Las Vegas, UFC vet Javier Torres of Gracie Humaita under Mica Cipili will take on Marcelo “Lapella” Mafra of CheckMat and the head instructor for Ultimate Fighter season two winner Joe “Daddy” Stevenson.

Tracey Goodell Fowler, well-respected black belt and the wife of world-renowned Mike Fowler, will challenge MMA fighter from Syndicate Gym Amanda Lucas (5-1 MMA record) of Las Vegas. Also featured will be a four-man “Ultimate Grappler” superfight tournament featuring Dean Lister, Joao Assis, Ricardo “Demente” Abreu, and Kyle Griffin, with official alternate being Bruno Bastos.
