After signing a multi-fight deal with Bellator MMA, Virgil Zwicker finally has a date for his first appearance with the promotion.

Zwicker announced via his Facebook page that he will fight at Bellator’s Sept. 13 event at the Pechanga Casino in his hometown of Temecula, Calif. When reached for comment, Zwicker told The MMA Corner that he will be fighting Reign MMA product Nick Moghaddam at the event.

Zwicker last competed for Strikeforce in May 2012, losing via unanimous decision against Carlos Guto Inocente. The defeat brought Zwicker’s Strikeforce record to 1-2, with the win coming in the form of a knockout of Brett Albee. Zwicker holds a 10-3 mark overall in MMA. The Team Quest fighter remained active in 2013 by making his debut as a Muay Thai kickboxer at WCK Muay Thai: Bad to the Bone in Temecula, where he lost a split decision to Sergio Pique.

Moghaddam has made one prior appearance with Bellator MMA. The 30-year-old emerged with the victory in the 2009 fight when his opponent, Lamar Jiles, was disqualified for throwing an illegal knee. Primarily fighting on small regional shows, the light heavyweight fighter is on a two-fight skid and is 6-6-1 overall.

It is not known at this time whether Zwicker’s fight will be part of the event’s main card. It is also not known whether a win will earn Zwicker a spot in a future light heavyweight tournament.

Bellator’s Sept. 13 event, likely to be dubbed Bellator 99, will be the second event of Bellator’s upcoming season nine and will be the first event of the season to take place on a Wednesday and air in the promotion’s standard time slot on Spike TV. Bellator’s ninth season will kick off on Saturday, Sept. 7, with a special three-hour live broadcast of Bellator 98 on Spike TV.
