Prize Fighting Championship 2: Sims vs. ‘Wildman’ Results Josh Davis July 13, 2013 Events, Recaps On Saturday, July 13, Denver’s Prize Fighting Championship hosted its second event, dubbed Sims vs. Wildman from the Magness Arena. In the night’s main event, lightweight champion Tony Sims put his 155-pound strap on the line against WEC and EliteXC veteran Thomas “Wildman” Denny. Sims earned the title with a first-round knockout of Chase Hackett in January. The 42-year-old Denny entered the fight on a two-fight skid. Also on the card were two additional professional title bouts. The promotion’s featherweight belt was up for grabs between undefeated Jarred Mercado and Ricky Musgrave, while bantamweight gold was at stake between Ricky Johnson and Josh Huber. The night’s main card also featured Ultimate Fighter 17 veteran Gilbert “Jamal” Smith, who faced off with fellow middleweight Jason Lee. In all, 12 bouts filled the card, with an even split between professional and amateur contests. The promotion’s amateur middleweight and light heavyweight titles were also on the line at the event.
