Bellator lightweight tournament starts Sept. 27

Bellator MMA returns to the eight-man tournament format this fall and the date and competitors for the opening round event have been announced.

The lightweight tournament starts Friday, Sept. 27 and will feature Marcus Davis vs. Tiger Sarnavskiy, Will Brooks vs. John Alessio, Saad Awad vs. Martin Stapelton and Rob Sinclair vs. Rich Clementi.

Bellator 101 will take place from the Rose Garden in Portland.

Rockhold vs Boetsch scheduled for UFC 166

Luke Rockhold will look for his first UFC win against fellow middleweight Tim Boetsch at UFC 166 on Oct. 19.

The pay-per-view event will take place from the Toyota Center in Houston and is headlined by a heavyweight title clash between champion Cain Velasquez and former champ Junior dos Santos.

Gonzaga vs. Jordan added to UFC 166

Heavyweights Gabriel Gonzaga and Shawn Jordan will face off in the third heavyweight fight to join the UFC 166 card.

In addition to the newly-added contest and the night’s main event, the co-main event features Daniel Cormier vs. Roy Nelson.

Cage Warriors 58 gets bantamweight bout

Cage Warriors Fighting Championship has added a bantamweight bout to its Cage Warriors 58 card.

James Brum, riding five straight wins within the promotion will meet Ukrainian prospect Ruslan Abiltarov at the event.

Cage Warriors 58 is set to take place on August 24 in Grozny, Chechnya.
