“Rampage” could take on Jones Jr. in boxing match

Recently, former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton Jackson signed a contract with Bellator.  With that, “Rampage” may step out of the cage and into the ring to take on Roy Jones Jr. in a boxing match at the end of the year.    An official date, nor an official weight class have not been confirmed in what would be Jackson’s professional boxing debut.

Jones Jr. holds a professional boxing record of 56-8, while “Rampage” has gone 32-11 during his time in professional MMA.

Sotiropoulos set to take on Noons

George Sotiropoulos and K.J. Noons have both lost three straight fights, and the two will meet one another at UFC 166 in a lightweight clash.  Previous to the losses, Sotiropoulos had won seven straight fights inside the Octagon, while Noons had held the EliteXC 155-pound championship.

UFC 166 is set to take place in Houston, Texas on Oct. 19.

UFC 162 official attendance and gate

Nevada State Athletic Commission’s Executive Director Keith Kizer officially announced the figures for UFC 162.  The official gate for the event was $4,826,450 from 10,157 seats that were sold.  2,807 seats were comped, with 768 left unsold.

UFC 162 took place on July 6 in Las Vegas.  The main event saw Chris Weidman defeating Anderson Silva for the promotions middleweight championship.

Chandler signs long term deal with Bellator

While Bellator lightweight champion Michael Chandler is set to take on David Rickels in less than a week, the undefeated fighter has officially signed a long term deal with the promotion.  The ink has dried on a contract extension that gives him eight more fights with Bellator MMA.

The lightweight champion holds a record of 11-0, eight of which took place within the promotion.  He won the championship by defeating Eddie Alvarez in what was considered one of the best fights of 2011.  His last fight was in January when he defended his title by submitting Rick Hawn in the second round.

Two fights and one replacement set for ONE FC 10

Two new fights and one injury replacement has been announced for when Asian promotion ONE FC returns in September.  Bashir Ahmad will take on Bruno Pucci at featherweight, Vincent Latoel is set to clash with Willy Ni, while Brianta Rosadhi has stepped in for Stefer Rahardian to take on Raymond Tan.

ONE FC 10 takes place on Sept. 13 in Indonesia.

Bellator releases Daley and Falcao

Due to their recent respective legal troubles, both Paul Daley and Maiquel Falcao have been released from Bellator.

Falcao, who fought Alexander Schlemenko for the vacant middleweight championship at Bellator 88 in February, was involved in a fight in his home country of Brazil which left a man in a coma.  The British fighter was convicted of assaulting and obstructing a police officer last December in the United Kingdom.
