You had a very competitive fight against Dan Henderson that ended up going to decision. What element of surprise are you bringing to this fight? Can we expect something like the knockout in the fight against Randy Couture?

We try to bring an element of surprise and take the rabbit out of the hat—do something different. However, it can’t always work out the way we want it to. We have to work hard and always surprise the opponent. We’ll have to wait and see on Saturday.

Phil Davis spoke much about your qualities when he commented on your fight against Henderson, but what do you think of Davis as a fighter?

Like other athletes, Phil talk about me, some good and others bad. I prefer to focus more on my game. Phil is a good man. He was not even there to do trash talking, so he’s a good athlete. He fights fair, though he will put a finger in the eye [laughs; referring to fight between Davis and Wagner Prado where the bout was halted due to Davis poking Prado in the eye]. I want to make a good show and always focus on my fight.

What is your prediction for the fight between your teammate Glover Teixeira and Ryan Bader?

It goes without saying. Glover is one of the top guys in the division. He will run over Ryan Bader.
