UFC fight announcements and updates

There has been a series of new fight bookings and updates throughout the day.  The first of which, sees Sam Sicilia having to withdraw from his fight against Felipe Arantes at Fight Night 28.  In his place, Edimilson Souza will make his Octagon debut.  Fight Night 28 will take place on Sept. 4 in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil.

At the yet-to-be-announced Fight Night 29, a featherweight fight between Jeremy Stephens and Rony Jason has been targeted.  While nothing has been officially announced, a post on “Lil Heathen’s” Facebook page nearly confirms the reports.  Fight Night 28 could take place on Oct. 9 in Brazil.

Lastly, Matt Grice is set to officially take on Jeremy Larson at UFC 166.  The two will meet in a featherweight contest which will see Larson make his featherweight debut.  UFC 166 will take place on Oct. 19 in Houston.

MFC Bantamweight Championship set

Maximum Fighting Championship has never had a bantamweight champion.  That will change in October, when Anthony Bitchak will take on Tito Jones for the inaugural title.

Both fighters have 10 victories on their record, with Bitchak holding only one loss and Jones having six defeats.

MFC 38: Behind Enemy Lines takes place on Friday, Oct. 4 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.  The Bitchak versus Jones fight will take place as the evenings co-main event.

CWFC tournament alternate fight set

Last week, Cage Warriors Fighting Championship announced a four-man, one-night tournament to determine the promotions bantamweight champion.  Brett Johns will take on David Haggstrom while Martin McDonough will fight James Pennington in the tournament.

Today it has been announced that Kris Edwards will meet Aaron Blackwell in an alternate bout in the event that one of the four participants are unable to fight in the final.  The Edwards versus Blackwell fight will be scheduled for two rounds, with a third round of overtime if necessary.

Cage Warriors Fighting Championship takes place in London on Sept. 14.  The main event will see Jim Alers defend his featherweight championship against Martin Svensson.

XFC 26 event announced

Nashville, Tenn. will be the home of “XFC 26: Night of Champions III”.  Xtreme Fighting Championships officials announced that lightweight champion Scott Holtzman will put his title on the line against Roger Carroll, and that the inaugural women’s flyweight title will be fought for between Pearl Gonzales and Courtney Casey.

The event will take place on Oct. 18
