Kongo-Godbeer, Queiroz-Johnson booked for Bellator 102

Cheick Kongo and Lavar Johnson will fight for the first time since their UFC releases at Bellator 102 on Oct. 4. Mark Godbeer faces Kongo, while fellow UFC veteran Vinicius Queiroz meets Johnson. The winners of the semifinal bouts will meet in the heavyweight tournament finals for a shot at Bellator heavyweight champion Alexander Volkov, who already awaits solid competition in “Summer Series” winner Vitaly Minakov.

UFN 32 gets Maria vs. Ortiz

Jose Maria will return to the UFC for the first time since a UFC 163 loss to John Lineker when UFC Fight Night 32 comes to Goiania Arena in Goiania, Brazil. Maria’s opposition will come in the form of former RFA and Tachi Palace standout Dustin Ortiz, who fights out of the Roufusport camp. Ortiz’s name was briefly linked to a UFC Fight Night 27 bout with Justin Scoggins, but UFC officials elected to not do the bout.

Report: Albu, Santos signed; Hirota, Gashimov cut

Undefeated Alexandra Albu will fly under the radar no longer. The 5-0 prospect, along with 13-0 former Bellator middleweight standous Bruno Santos, will look to debut for the promotion in the near future. As Albu and Santos prepare to settle into the UFC, Mizuto Hirota and Azamat Gashimov will look to tune their skills outside the promotion. Recent losses suffered by both caused the UFC brass to release both fighters, though the 23 year-old Gashimov will look to return to action sometime soon.

Featherweight semifinals set for Bellator 103

Fabricio Guerreiro, Justin Wilcox, Patricio Freire, and Joe Taimanglo will take place in Bellator’s season-nine featherweight tournament semifinals at Bellator 103 on Oct. 11. Guerreiro  will combat Freire, while Wilcox and Taimanglo do battle. The winners will take part in the tournament final, where the eventual tournament champion will earn a title shot against the winner of Bellator 106’s Pat Curran-Daniel Straus title tilt.

CWFC Fight Night 9 relocates to Amman

Logistical issues have caused the Cage Warriors Fighting Championship comes to Amman, Jordan on Oct. 25 for CWFC Fight Night 9, instead of Isa Town in Bahrain on the same date. Nevertheless, the night will see intense action as Bruno Carvalho, Gael Grimaud, Che Mills, Faycal Hucin, Paul Redmond and others compete on the card. In addition to the aforementioned names, Ryan Roddy will await a new foe after an injury forced Mario Saeed from the bout .
