Palhares released from the UFC

The newest free agent to hit the market is Brazilian Rousimar Palhares despite his victory last night at UFC Fight Night 29.  Palhares slapped on his trademark heel hook submission against Mike Pierce, however for the second time in his career he held the hold despite clear instructions from the referee to let go of the submission hold due to his opponent tapping out.

The first time that this took place was against Tomasz Drwal back at UFC 111 and as a punishment he was suspended for 90-days by the New Jersey State Athletic Commission.

Palhares went 8-4 in his career inside the Octagon.
