Duke to meet Morgan, other women’s fights announced for TUF Finale

With the final episode of The Ultimate Fighter set to air this Wednesday evening, the norm is for fight announcements between cast members to be released after the episode airs to prevent spoilers.  However, the women’s fights for the finale have been released with the exception of Raquel Pennington and Jessica Rakoczy, as they are set to square off on the final taped episode of the season.

The winner of that fight will move on to take on Julianna Pena in the finals, whereas the loser is headed to face Roxanne Modafferi.  Additionally, Team Rousey fighters Peggy Morgan and Jessamyn Duke will lock horns.  The only two female fighters who will not see action that made it into the house are Shayna Baszler and Sarah Moras, as injuries have sidelined them.  They are expected to make their respective debuts for the UFC in 2014.

Three fights added to Fight Night 35

A middleweight, welterweight, and lightweight fight have been added to UFC Fight Night 35.  At middleweight, Brian Houston will meet Trevor Smith.  In a 170-pound contest, Adlan Amagov will take on Jason High.  Finally, Justin Edwards will see Ramsey Nijem at lightweight.

UFC Fight Night 35 will take place on Jan. 15 in Duluth, Ga.

WSOF signs Palhares

Brazilian Rousimar Palhares is no longer a free agent as has signed with the World Series of Fighting.  Palhares became a free agent after he was released by the UFC in October for not releasing submission holds on his opponent on multiple occasions.

While WSOF president Ray Sefo had previously stated that the promotion does not have any interest in the former free agent, he said that Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira had volunteered to help Palhares and guide him in the right direction.

As it currently stands, it is unknown as to when his promotional debut will take place, or against whom.

Dickson to replace Chiappe at WSOF 7

Ryan Chiappe has been forced out of his World Series of Fighting 7 fight against Marcus Vinicius.  Fortunately, despite the card being only a few weeks away, the promotion was able to get a replacement quickly, securing another Ryan, Ryan Dickson.

A cancer survivor, Dickson holds a professional record of 6-1.  All of his victories have been finishes, with five by way of submission.

WSOF 7 takes place on Dec. 7 in Vancouver, Canada.

Location and date change for Cage Warriors 61

Originally, Cage Warriors 61 was set to take place on December 14 in Baghdad, Iraq, but it has been changed to take place in Amman, Jordan on December 13 instead.

Promotional officials are citing logistical issues as the reason for the change of date and country, however the same officials have said that they hope to make their debut in Baghdad in 2014.
