Shane Del Rosario in critical condition

UFC heavyweight Shane Del Rosario suffered a catastrophic cardiovascular collapse and remains in the coronary care unit. Though the collapse happened Tuesday morning, doctors resuscitated him to a stable heart rhythm and blood pressure level. Despite this, Del Rosario remains critically ill.

Bellator MMA signs former NCAA champion Caldwell

Undefeated Darrion Caldwell signed with Bellator MMA earlier this week and will compete as part of the promotion’s featherweight division. The 3-0 prospect and former NCAA Division I champion cut his teeth in Legacy FC, and now looks to make his mark on a bigger stage. The terms of his deal remain unknown, though the announcement did declare that Caldwell will compete in featured fights before moving on to season featherweight tournaments.

WSoF acquisitions continue with Al-Hassan, Palomino, Tiller

Razak Al-Hassan joins Luis Palomino and undefeated Kelvin Tiller as part of the latest names to sign with World Series of Fighting. Al-Hassan has gone 5-2 since his gruesome 2008 loss to Steve Cantwell, while Palomino proved unsuccessful in a recent CFA lightweight title bid. “The Mama’s Boy” Tiller remains undefeated in six career bouts, including four career submission wins.

MFC 39 topped with Southern vs. Gallicchio

MFC lightweight champion Graham Spencer remains on the sidelines due to injuries, and upon his return, will intend to drop to the featherweight division. Therefore, Kurt Southern will face Tom Gallicchio for the lightweight crown at MFC 39,  live from the Northlands Expo Centre in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on Jan. 17. Also on the card, Jason South moves down to welterweight for a collision with The Ultimate Fighter 17 cast member Gilbert Smith.

Hernandez-Viana set for UFC on Fox 10

Ramiro “Junior” Hernandez and Hugo Viana will do battle inside the Octagon when UFC on Fox 10 comes to Chicago. Both men suffered defeat in their last UFC bouts, with Hernandez losing to Lucas Martins and Viana losing to TJ Dillashaw. The bout will take place on the preliminary portion of the card, but at this time, UFC officials cannot confirm whether the bout will air on Fox Sports 1.
