Ben Askren Signs With ONE FC

Former Bellator welterweight champion Ben Askren has signed with the leading promotion in Asia, ONE FC. Askren cited a rivalry between Dana White and Bellator as the main roadblock in his negotiations with the UFC. Askren brings an undefeated 12-0 record to the promotion and is a former collegiate All-American and Olympic wrestler.

Askren is expected to debut with the promotion sometime next Spring.

John Makdessi vs. Alan Patrick Added to UFC 169 

John Makdessi will face undefeated Brazilian prospect Alan Patrick at UFC 169. After a rough 2012, Makdessi has rebounded with three-straight victories. Patrick scored a TKO victory in his Octagon debut back in October.

UFC 169 is set to feature two title fights as Dominick Cruz faces Renan Barao and Jose Aldo will defend his title against Ricardo Lamas. UFC 169 takes place on Feb. 1 at Prudential Center at Newark, N.J.

Pickett Drops to Flyweight, Faces McCall; UFC London Update

Brad  Pickett will make his flyweight debut against “Uncle Creepy” Ian McCall. Pickett has ran into a wall of sorts at bantamweight, losing to a handful of the top competitors, and decided moving down a weight class would give him a fresh outlook in the UFC. McCall has been a perennial flyweight contender since entering the UFC but finally picked up his first victory against Illiarde Santos in his last outing.

The two other bouts added to UFC Fight Night 37 on Tuesday include undefeated Icelandic fighter Gunnar Nelson vs. Russia’s Omari Akhmedov, and Englishman Danny Mitchell vs. Brazilian Igor Araujo.

UFC London is expected to take place on March 8 from the O2 Arena and will be headlined by a light heavyweight fight between Alexander Gustafsson and Jimi Manuwa.

UFC Fight Night 36 Adds Two Fights Including Erick Silva

UFC Fight Night 36 received two additional bouts today as Erick Silva will face Nate Loughran and Rodrigo Damm vs. Ivan Jorge were announced. Silva will look to rebound from a second-round TKO loss to Dong Hyun Kim while Loughran will be making his first Octagon appearance since 2008. Damm and Jorge will both look to keep the good times rolling at the other’s expense as both fighters are coming off victories.

UFC FN 36 is expected to be headlined by a bout between Lyoto Machida and Gegard Mousasi. The event will take place in Jaragua do Sul, Brazil on Feb. 15
