Sanchez meets Jury at UFC 171

It was revealed yesterday that Diego Sanchez had just signed a big extension with the UFC, and today his next matchup has been revealed.  Myles Jury will be the man across the cage from Sanchez, and the two will lock horns at UFC 171 in a lightweight contest.

Also on the same card, a matchup between welterweights Sean Spencer and Alex Garcia is set to take place as well.

Cage Warriors 61 weigh-in results and card updates

The main event at tomorrows Cage Warriors 61 has changed yet again, but this time not as a result of an injury or anything like that.  Heavy fog at Heathrow Airport in London made air traffic difficult and created problems for the travel schedules of welterweights Mohsen Bahari and Hakon Foss.  Matt Inman was supposed to meet Foss in the main event at the card, while Bahari was to lock horns against Mukhamed Berkhamov.

With Berkhamov and Inman both in the welterweight division and both able to make it to Jordan without disruption, promotion officials aspired to have the two square off in an effort to only lose one fight off of the card, rather than two.  The idea of it was shot down when Berkhamov declined to take on what would have been his third scheduled opponent at the event.

With that, a bantamweight matchup between Marat Pekov and James Brum has been moved up to be the new main event.  Weigh-in results are below:

Bantamweight: Marat Pekov (135.6lbs) vs. James Brum (135lbs)
Welterweight: Seydina Seck (170.6lbs) vs. Jack Mason (171lbs)
Light-heavyweight: James Hurrell (205.6lbs) vs. Mohamed Ali (204.6lbs)
176lbs catchweight: Vincent del Guerra (175.6lbs) vs. James Hurrell (175.6lbs)
Lightweight: Julien Boussuge (156lbs) vs. Damien Brown (156lbs)
Flyweight: Paul Marin (126.8lbs)* vs. Spencer Hewitt (125.6lbs)
Welterweight: James Burrows (170.8lbs) vs. Jarrah Al-Silawi (170.4lbs)
Featherweight: Doni Miller (145.4lbs) vs. Arnold Allen (144.6lbs)

*0.8lb over the limit but no purse deduction will occur due to disruption to fighter’s travel schedule

Cage Warriors takes place tomorrow, Dec. 13 from Amman, Jordan.

Iaquinta welcomes Lee to the Octagon

TUF runner up Al Iaquinta has his next opponent scheduled, and it will be promotional rookie Kevin Lee.  Lee has a perfect 6-0 professional record, however he has never made it to the national stage.  He holds no knockouts to his name, however he has made his opponents quit three times, and they have all happened in his last three fights.

Iaquinta lost his promotional debut in the finals of his season of The Ultimate Fighter against Michael Chiesa, however he has bounced back in grand fashion, winning his next two fights.

The two fighters are set to throw down at UFC 169 in Newark, N.J. on Feb. 1, 2014.
