Hendricks, Lawler to fight for vacant welterweight title

Following Georges St-Pierre’s decision to take a leave of absence and vacate his welterweight title, the UFC has matched up Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler to fight for the belt.

The two heavy-hitters will meet at UFC 171 on March 15 in Dallas. It will be the event’s main event.

With this fight being announced, the original main event of Jon Jones vs. Glover Texeira for the light heavyweight strap will move to UFC 172, which is scheduled to take place in late March or early April.

Cage Warriors 61 Results

Cage Warriors 61 took place on Dec. 13 from the King Hussein Youth City Boxing Arena in Amman, Jordan. In the main event, James Brum defeated Marat Pekov in a hard-fought battle by unanimous decision, while Jack Mason topped Seydina Seck by unanimous decision in the co-headliner.

UFC signs Russian lightweight prospect Rashid Magomedov

The UFC has signed another Russian prospect to its lightweight division.

Rashid Magomedov has inked a deal with the promotion, and is expected to make his debut at UFC 169 against Tony Martin.

Magomedov is the M-1 Global welterweight champion, who holds a professional record of 15-1.

Leandro Issa-Russell Doane Bantamweight Duel Added to UFC Fight Night 34

A bantamweight bout between newcomers Leandro Issa and Russell Doane has been added to UFC Fight Night 34.

The event is set to take place on Jan. 4 from the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. Headlining will be a welterweight clash between Hyun Gyu Lim and Tarec Saffiedine.

It’s Jones vs. Gustafsson on EA Game Cover

After competing in one of the best fights of the year at UFC 165, light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson find side by side once again.

Jones had already been announced as one half of the cover members, with the second being determined by fan voting. The 16-man tournament came down to Gustafsson and Georges St-Pierre, with the Swedish fighter winning.

There were over 11 millions vote cast throughout the entire process.

The video game will be released in the spring of 2014 on XBOX One and Playstation 4.

Heavyweights Brett Rogers, Philip De Fries Collide at Inoki Bom-Ba-Ye 2013

Veteran heavyweights Brett Rogers and Philip De Fries will go to war in the Inoki Genome Federation promotion on New Year’s Eve.

The event is scheduled to take place from the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo.
