Aoki faces Harada at Inoki Bom-Ba-Ye 2013 on Dec. 31

Former DREAM and current ONE FC lightweight champion Shinya Aoki will be in action on Dec. 31 when he faces off with countryman Toshikatsu Harada at Inoki Bom-Ba-Ye 2013.

The event is put on by Inoki Genome Federation and features both MMA and pro wrestling contests. It takes place from the Ryougoku Sumo Hall in Tokyo.

Holly Holm meets Juliana Werner for inaugural Legacy FC belt

Multiple-time boxing world champion Holly Holm will be looking to add MMA gold to her trophy case when she meets Juliana Werner for the Legacy FC women’s bantamweight title.

Holm has opened her MMA career with six straight wins. The fight with Werner is expected to take place in April in Holm’s hometown of Albuquerque, N.M.

Melendez vs. Nurmagomedov rumored for February

A lightweight contest between former Strikeforce champion Gilbert Melendez and unbeaten Dagestan native Khabib Nurmagomedov is rumored for UFC 170 on Feb. 22 in Las Vegas.

Melendez fell short in his conquest for UFC gold earlier in the year, but bounced back with a win over Diego Sanchez at UFC 166. Nurmagomedov, meanwhile, was last in action against Pat Healy at UFC 165, where he scored a decision victory.

UFC 170 takes place from the Mandalay Bay Events Center and is headlined by a light heavyweight contest between former champion Rashad Evans and the undefeated Daniel Cormier.

Green and Trujillo battle at UFC 169

Recent lightweight winners Bobby Green and Abel Trujillo have booked for UFC 169 on Feb. 1.

Both fighters were in action at UFC on Fox 9 on Dec. 14. Green edged out veteran Pat Healy by decision, while Trujillo stopped Roger Bowling via TKO.

UFC 169 takes place from the Prudential Center on Feb. 1 and is headlined by a pair of title fights as featherweight champion Jose Aldo faces off with Ricardo Lamas and bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz returns from a lengthy injury absence to battle interim champion Renan Barao.

Hester welcomes Enz to the Octagon

Ultimate Fighter alum Clint Hester has been tabbed to welcome fellow middleweight Andy Enz to the Octagon at UFC 169 on Feb. 1.

Both fighters were part of TUF 17, but Enz was defeated by finalist Uriah Hall during the elimination bouts to get into the reality show house.

Caceres-Pettis tabbed for UFC on Fox 10

The UFC’s return to Chicago on Jan. 25 will feature an exciting bantamweight clash between TUF alum Alex Cacares and unbeaten Sergio Pettis.

Pettis, the younger brother of UFC lightweight champion Anthony, made his promotional debut at UFC 167 and scored a decision win over veteran Will Campuzano. Caceres enters the contest on a three-fight winning streak.

UFC on Fox 10 takes place from the United Center and is headlined by a lightweight bout between former champion Benson Henderson and former Strikeforce kingpin Josh Thomson.

Alcantara-Reis expected for UFC Fight Night 36

A battle of Brazilian bantamweights will take place at UFC Fight Night 36 when Yuri Alcantara faces Wilson Reis.

Alcantara will look to bounce back from an August defeat to Urijah Faber, while Reis will look to build on the momentum of his win over Ivan Menjivar in September.

UFC Fight Night 36 takes place Feb. 15 from the Arena Jaragua in Jaragua do Sul, Santa Caarina, Brazil and is headlined by a middleweight bout between former UFC champion Lyoto Machida and former Strikeforce title holder Gegard Mousasi.

Beneil Dariush picked as Amagov’s replacement against High

Unbeaten welterweight Beneil Daruish will make his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 35 on Jan. 15 in Duluth, Ga.

Daruish will take on veteran Jason High, who was originally expected to face Adlan Amagov at the event.

UFC Fight Night 35 will emanate from the Arena at Gwinnett Center and will be headlined by a middleweight fight between former Strikeforce champion Luke Rockhold and TUF alum Constantinos Philippou.

World Series of Fighting adds four to roster

World Series of Fighting has signed four fighters to contracts.

Added to the promotion’s male roster will be Strikeforce and Bellator veteran Tyler Stinson, who joins the promotion’s welterweight division, and Tennessean light heavyweight Teddy Holder.

On the women’s side of things, WSOF has inked Ashlee Evans-Smith and Emi Fujino. Evans-Smith made headlines under the CFA banner, stopping transgender fighter Fallon Fox in the promotion’s featherweight tournament final. She will drop to bantamweight to compete for WSOF. Fujino, meanwhile, is a longtime veteran of the sport, but recently dropped a decision to fellow strawweight Mizuki Inoue in November.

Four-fight WSOF 8 undercard finalized

The undercard for the Jan. 18 WSOF 8 event in Hollywood, Fla. has been finalized with a heavyweight bout between Scott Barrett and Derrick Mehmen, a lightweight clash between Luis Palomino and Rich Patishnock, flyweights Sidemar Honorio and Alexis Vila and featherweights Freddy Assuncao and Brenson Hansen.

WSOF 8 takes place from the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. The night’s main event will feature a lightweight title bout between Justin Gaethje and Lewis Gonzalez.

UFC releases three veterans

The UFC has released lightweight George Sotiropoulos, middleweight Alessio Sakara and women’s bantamweight Rosi Sexton.

Both Sotiropoulos and Sakara lost four straight fights in the Octagon, earning them their pink slips.

Sexton, meanwhile, dropped back-to-back decision to Alexis Davis and Jessica Andrade while fighting outside her natural weight class of flyweight.
