Former UFC light heavyweight champion and current Bellator MMA fighter Tito Ortiz wrecked his Porsche Panamera in Los Angeles on Monday, Jan. 6, and was arrested under suspicion of driving under the influence.

According to one report, the 38-year-old Ortiz, whose legal name is Jacob Christopher Ortiz, failed a field sobriety test and had a blood alcohol level of 0.12, which is above the California legal limit of 0.08.

Ortiz was arrested by the California Highway Patrol just after at 6 a.m. PT after running his Porsche into the center median of northbound I-405 near Sepulveda and Santa Monica boulevards around 4:30 a.m. The Californian was booked at a Los Angeles Police Department substation and was released on a $15,000 bond.

It has been a tumultuous last year and a half for the former champion. Ortiz retired following his UFC 148 loss to Forrest Griffin in July of 2012 and was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame.

However, in 2013, Ortiz announced he would be returning to competition under the Bellator MMA banner. He was slated to headline the promotion’s first pay-per-view event against Quinton “Rampage” Jackson in November, but was forced to withdraw due to a neck injury.

In addition to his health issues, Ortiz has been involved in a messy custody battle for his twins with ex-wife and adult film star Jenna Jameson.
