Bellator 113 to host 205-pound championship unification bout

In November, Emanuel Newton won the Bellator interim light heavyweight championship in a decision over Muhammed Lawal.  Newton holds a record of 5-1 inside the promotion, with the lone loss coming at the hands of Attila Vegh, who happens to currently hold the promotions light heavyweight championship.  The two fighters will get another crack at one another at Bellator 113, where the main event will feature a title unification bout between the two parties.

Also on the card will be the opening round to this seasons lightweight championship tournament.  David Rickels will meet Patricky Pitbull, Marcin Held clashes with Rodrigo Cavalheiro, Terry Etim will fight Derek Anderson, and Brandon Girtz will throw down with Derek Campos.  The tournament will play out across the season, with the winner to receive a check for $100,000 and a guaranteed title shot.

MFC 39 Weigh-In Results

Tomorrow nights Maximum Fighting Championship event is official as the weigh in for MFC 39: No Remorse took place earlier today.  There were two championship title fights on the docket, but after what took place on the scales, there is a change in plans.

The heavyweight title fight is on as scheduled, but the vacant lightweight championship has a few stipulations to it due to Tom Gallicchio missing weight.  According to the rules set fourth by the promotion in 2012, if Kurt Southern defeats Gallicchio, he will walk way from the ring with the title belt.  However, if Southern is defeated, Gallicchio will earn another chance at the title against Southern at a future event.  The fight will still be fought over five rounds as originally scheduled.

Three fighters in total missed their mark and will all be penalized as a result.
