WSOF 9 Features Welterweight, Bantamweight Title Bouts

World Series of Fighting will return to Las Vegas for its ninth installment on March 29 and the event will be headlined by two title fights.

In the main event, welterweight champion Steve Carl will welcome UFC castoff Rousimar Palhares to the promotion.

The co-main event will see the promotion crown a bantamweight champion as Marlon Moraes clashes with Josh Rettinghouse.

The event will take place from the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. The main card will air live on the NBC Sports Network.

TUF Brazil 3 Airs on UFC Fight Pass

The UFC’s third Brazilian version of The Ultimate Fighter will stream via the promotion’s recently launched digital network, UFC Fight Pass.

The reality show will be coached by Brazilian Wanderlei Silva and former title challenger Chael Sonnen. They will coach middleweight and heavyweight fighters.

The Ultimate Fighter Brazil: Team Wanderlei vs. Team Sonnen will air on Sunday nights beginning March 9 at 10 p.m. ET.

Tito Ortiz Cleared to Fight

Former UFC light heavyweight champion and recent Bellator MMA signing Tito Ortiz has been cleared by doctors to return to competition. Ortiz’s manager George Prajin revealed the news.

The fighter was forced out of a planned pay-per-view event in November against Quinton “Rampage” Jackson due to a fractured neck. With the injury healed, Ortiz is eying a late spring or early summer return.

Joe Ellenberger Joins Brother Jake on UFC 172 Card

Recently signed UFC lightweight Joe Ellenberger will make his promotional debut on April 26 at UFC 172 opposite Yancy Medeiros.

The Nebraska fighter joins his brother Jake, who faces Tarec Saffiedine on the pay-per-view main card.

UFC 172 takes place from the Baltimore Arena in Baltimore and is headlined by a light heavyweight title fight between Jon Jones and Glover Teixeira.

UFC on Fox 10 Medical Suspensions

Medical suspensions from Saturday’s UFC on Fox 10 event in Chicago have been revealed by the Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation. All 22 fighters received a mandatory 15-day suspension, but four fighters were given longer terms.

Adriano Martins: suspended for 90 days with 60 days no contact
Mike Rio: suspended for 45 days with 30 days no contact
Yves Jabouin: suspended for 45 days with 30 days no contact
Walt Harris : suspended for 45 days with 30 days no contact

Surprisingly absent from the list were headliner Josh Thomson, who appeared to have broken his right hand during his fight with Benson Henderson, and heavyweight Gabriel Gonzaga, who tweeted pictures of his broken hand.

The March 1 Cage Warriors 65 event in Dublin, Ireland has added two bouts.

Australian UFC alum Benny Alloway returns to the UK-based promotion to take on fellow welterweight Jack Mason, while another Aussie, Damien Brown, takes on Paul Redmond at lightweight.
