New Zealand featherweight Faith Van Duin is headed to America.

The MMA Corner has learned through sources close to the fighter that the Storm Damage featherweight champion has been signed to Invicta Fighting Championships. The promotion has also confirmed the signing.

Van Duin, a native of New Zealand, is currently undefeated and is riding a four-fight winning streak with three of her four wins coming from a one-night elimination gauntlet for the Storm Damage featherweight title.

Van Duin is the first New Zealand-based fighter to join the promotion. She is eager to show that the country should not be overlooked in producing high-quality fighters. Van Duin is elated to be featured in the premier women’s mixed martial arts promotion.

“If you’ve ever seen the movie Ice Age, and you see the squirrel as he is trying to get the nut? That’s pretty much how I feel [laughs]. It’s so exciting to get this opportunity, and I plan to make the most of it,” Van Duin said when reached for comment by The MMA Corner. “I feel humbled and excited and thankful for the opportunity. I am really excited for what is to come, and I am ready to show the world what New Zealand women can do. I am really looking forward to testing myself against the best fighters in the world.”

It has not yet been confirmed when Van Duin is expected to make her Invicta FC debut, and the identity of her opponent is not yet known. Invicta, which hosted its seventh event in December, has yet to announce a date for its next event.
