All-women’s promotion Invicta Fighting Championships has signed Ultimate Fighter 18 alums Peggy Morgan and Roxanne Modafferi and the promotion is targeting April for its eighth event.

The news was revealed on the AXS TV-broadcast weekly news show, Inside MMA.

Currently no fights, nor broadcast plans have been officially announced for Invicta FC 8. The promotion’s previous seven events have aired via live stream on the promotion’s website. On more than one occasion the promotion has been forced to refund its online pay-per-views due to issues with the streams.

After a strong start to 2013 that saw the promotion crown multiple champions, including featherweight Cris “Cyborg” Justino and flyweight Barb Honchak, the promotion was forced to split ways with co-founder and matchmaker Janet Martin. As such, the promotion held just one event after July. However, Invicta FC President Shannon Knapp quickly named women’s MMA pioneer Julie Kedzie to replace Martin and the promotion began moving forward once again.

Late in 2013, the promotion allowed 11 strawweight fighters to make the jump to the UFC to compete on The Ultimate Fighter 20. Since that time, Knapp and Kedzie have been busy restocking the promotion’s roster. Over the last few weeks, the promotion has inked 15 new fighters. In addition to the signings of Morgan and Modafferi, and the previously announced signings of Amber Brown, Ashley Greenway, Faith Van Duin, Herica Tiburcio, Irene Aldana, Karolina Kowalkiewicz and Livia Renata Souza, the promotion has also signed Mellony Geugjes, Rachel Ostovich, Joanna Jedrzejczyk, Valerie Letourneau, Delaney Owen and Cindy Dandois.

The Kansas City-based organization is planning six events in 2014 and more details are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
