Jack Marshman (center) (Jade Kimmel/The MMA Corner)Cage Warriors Signs Marshman, Teodorczuk to Long-Term Deals, Completes CWFC 66 Greg Byron February 28, 2014 News They say that all good things come in threes, and so proved to be the case today as Cage Warriors announced that it had not only completed the lineup for Cage Warriors 66 in Copenhagen, Denmark, on March 22, but it had also signed Jack Marshman and recent Cage Warriors debutant Mateusz Teodorczuk to long-term deals. Marshman and Teodorczuk have both signed five-fight deals that tie them to Cage Warriors exclusively over the coming 18 months. Marshman is well known to many in the United Kingdom from his time competing for British promotion BAMMA. He is one of the best UK middleweight prospects and will no doubt be looking to follow in the footsteps of UFC middleweight Luke Barnatt, who also rose from BAMMA to achieve success on The Ultimate Fighter. Marshman holds wins over the likes of Andrew Punshon and Lee Chadwick. The Welshman will no doubt be relishing the prospect of facing off against some of Europe’s best in the coming 18 months in an attempt to put himself in the shop window for the likes of Bellator and the UFC. Meanwhile, we saw Teodorczuk debut at Cage Warriors 63 in Dublin on the New Year’s Eve card. He was victorious on that occasion against Paul Redmond and earned a “Submission of the Night” bonus in the process. That bonus and the promise of more to come will no doubt have sweetened the deal for the “Meteor” to land himself with Cage Warriors on an extended basis. Teodorczuk will be full of confidence at the moment as he likely cannot remember what it is like to taste defeat inside the cage, given the last time this happened was in 2010. Since then, Teodorczuk has reeled off an impressive nine wins, including six inside the distance. Any concerns about the competition he might have faced were quickly written off after his submission victory over Cage Warriors veteran Redmond, who at the time was on an impressive winning streak of his own. Needless to say, both fighters will look to test themselves against the best competition that Europe has to offer. With Cage Warriors being one of the more active MMA promotions, it is a good opportunity to improve “on the job” as it were. Cage Warriors 65 takes place this weekend in Dublin, Ireland, and is headlined by UFC veteran John Maguire and prospect Saul Rogers. However, before that fight even takes place, Cage Warriors has announced the full lineup for its next outing, Cage Warriors 66, which takes place just three weeks later on March 22 from Copenhagen. Cage Warriors 66 was officially announced today. The main card will feature a bout with a definitive European feel to it, as Norwegian Jack Hermansson squares off against Spaniard Enoc Solves Torres. Hermansson’s two previous wins for Cage Warriors against Ali Arish and Mike Ling had put him on Bellator’s radar, but after two successive losses for the Viacom promotion, Hermansson finds himself back on familiar ground and will no doubt hope a return to Cage Warriors spells a return to his winning ways. Whilst Hermansson, with just five professional fights, could be argued to have been lacking the sufficient experience to compete on the stage that Bellator offered, his opponent certainly cannot make the same claim. Torres carries with him a record of 13-6, and that wealth of experience will give him confidence that the younger Norwegian won’t offer anything he hasn’t already seen. Torres has been a regular feature for the M-1 promotion and can boast a two fight winning streak ahead of Cage Warriors 66. Whilst his wins on the M-1 circuit will make him well known to fans of the Russian promotion, it is perhaps his head-kick loss against UFC veteran Tom Blackledge which will be his most famous moment. The knockout came in just nine seconds of the first round. Overall, Cage Warriors is starting 2014 strong. Cage Warriors has already established itself as the leading European promotion, and with widespread availability in Europe, combined with online streaming options for the rest of the world, Cage Warriors has put built a strong global presence.
