Yushin Okami to Make World Series of Fighting Debut at WSOF 9

In his first fight since being cut by the UFC, Yushin Okami will face Svetlozar Savov at World Series of Fighting 9: Carl vs. Palhares. Okami is coming off a knockout loss to Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, a loss that snapped a three-fight winning streak. Savov has mainly competed in Slovenia, Bulgaria and Russia.

The WSOF 9 card will be headlined by a welterweight title fight between the current champ Steve Carl and former UFC standout Rousimar Palhares. Also Marlon Moraes takes on Josh Rettinghouse for the promotion’s inaugural bantamweight belt. The card is scheduled for March 29 at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

Tor Troeng Injured, Sean Strickland in to Face Bubba McDaniel at UFC 171

A shoulder injury has forced Tor Troeng to pull out of a scheduled contest with Bubba McDaniel at UFC 171. Stepping up on short notice will be Sean Strickland. The promotional newcomer sports an unblemished record at 13-0.

McDaniel was pegged as an early favorite while on TUF 18 but finds himself in a precarious situation as he’s gone 1-1 during his UFC tenure. UFC 171 takes place on March 15 from the American Airlines Center in Dallas. The card will be headlined by an UFC welterweight title clash between Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler.

Bellator 114 Card Finalized

Bellator has finalized their 114 card and will look to feature Bellator middleweight champ Alexander Shlemenko in the main event. Shlemenko will defend his title against Brennan Ward and the card will feature a number of notable fighters. Kendall Grove takes on Brett Cooper in the middleweight tournament semifinal, Team Alpha Male’s Justin Wilcox will be featured on the preliminary portion of the card, and former NCAA Division I wrestling champ Bubba Jenkins kicks off the event against Sean Powers.

Bellator 114 is scheduled for March 28 at the Maverik Center in West Valley City, Utah.

XFC’s Second International Card Gets Headliner

After a successful debut in Brazil, XFC has revealed the headliner for its second international event on March 15 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

In the night’s top-billing, Adson Lira will take on Flavio Alvaro in a lightweight affair.

XFCi2 will air live on REDE TV in Brazil and stream live on the promotion’s website.
