Tony Ferguson (Esther Lin/MMA Fighting)UFC 173 Adds Tony Ferguson vs. Katsunori Kikuno Greg Byron March 4, 2014 News Another bout has been added to UFC 173, which is set to take place on May 24 in Las Vegas. Former Ultimate Fighter winner Tony Ferguson will square off against Katsunori Kikuno at the event. Kikuno has spent the majority of his career fighting in his native Japan. He will be making his Vegas debut, having fought in Singapore in his only UFC outing so far. The Japanese ace and former DEEP lightweight title holder will be brimming with confidence as he is currently riding a six-fight winning streak which includes his decision victory over Quinn Mulhern back in January. In complete contrast to his opponent, Ferguson is well-known to UFC fans. Having beat Ramsey Nijem to win the TUF crown, Ferguson went on an impressive winning streak which only got stopped by a resurgent Michael Johnson. However, Ferguson quickly found the winning habit again in his last outing against Mike Rio, picking up a “Submission of the Night” bonus in the process. With the addition of the Ferguson-Kikuno bout, the UFC 173 card now features 10 bouts. It will take place from the MGM Grand Garden Arena and will be headlined by a middleweight title bout between champion Chris Weidman and former light heavyweight kingpin Lyoto Machida.
