UFC Fight Night 38 Medical Suspensions

Not surprisingly, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua tops the list of medical suspensions handed out following the UFC Fight Night 38 card. The Brazilian will need to present a clear CT scan in order to receive clearance to fight, and will have surgery to repair damage from a broken nose. Rua’s opponent, Dan Henderson, received a 45-day suspension after being rocked numerous times in the contest.

The full list of suspensions handed out are as follows:

•Dan Henderson: suspended 45 days with 30 days no contact
•Mauricio Rua: suspended 180 days or until cleared by specialist with a head CT exam
•C.B. Dollaway: suspended 14 days with seven days no contact
•Cezar Ferreira: suspended 45 days with 30 days no contact
•Norman Parke: suspended 30 days with 21 days no contact
•Leonardo Santos: suspended 30 days with 21 days no contact
•Fabio Maldonado: suspended 45 days with 30 days no contact
•Gian Villante: suspended 45 days with 30 days no contact
•Michel Prazeres: suspended 180 days or until cleared by a orthopedic doctor with an X-ray of right hand
•Mairbek Taisumov: suspended 30 days with 21 days no contact
•Rony Jason: suspended 14 days with seven days no contact
•Steven Siler: suspended 30 days with 21 days no contact
•Thiago “Marreta” Santos: suspended 14 days with seven days no contact
•Ronny Markes: suspended 30 days with 21 days no contact
•Jussier Formiga: suspended 14 days with seven days no contact
•Scott Jorgensen: suspended 14 days with seven days no contact
•Kenny Robertson: suspended 14 days with seven days no contact

Paulo Thiago vs. Gasan Umalatov Added to UFC Fight Night 42 in Brazil

A welterweight contest between Brazilian Paulo Thiago and Russia’s Gasan Umalatov has been added to the upcoming UFC Fight Night 42 event. Thiago lost to rising star Brandon Thatch back in November and is a meager 2-5 in his last seven fights. Umalatov lost in his Octagon debut to Neil Magny.

The card is expected to be headlined by a grudge-match between Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva. The event is scheduled for May 31 at Ginásio do Ibirapuera in São Paulo, Brazil.

Titan FC 28 Announces Location

Titan Fighting Championships announced that their Titan FC 28 card will be held in Miami, Okla. on April 25. The card will air on the CBS Sports Network. The card will also feature notable names like Vinny Magalhaes facing Jason Brilz, Dnaiel Roberts vs. Brock Jardine, and Dave Herman.

XFC Bolsters Female Strawweight Roster, Announces XFCi 3

XFC added Andy “The CrAsian” Nguyen to its list of female fighters. Since turning pro in May of 2010, Nguyen has fought 14 times. She’ll finally have the chance to fight at her natural weight class of 115 pounds after competing in multiple divisions.

Also, XFC International announced plans to return to Sao Paulo for an event on March 29. XFCi 3 will be streamed on XFCMMA.com along with appearing on REDE TV. The card will feature fighters from Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Venezuela, and Columbia. The main event features Alfredo “Tsunami” Morales facing Luis “Sapo” Santos.

Tom Duquesnoy vs. Teddy Violet for BAMMA Featherweight Title

Tom Duquesnoy will face Teddy Violet at the upcoming BAMMA 15 card for the promotion’s featherweight title. Duquesnoy also signed an exclusive four-fight deal with BAMMA.

BAMMA 15 is slated for April 5 from the Copper Box in London’s Olympic Park.

ONE FC Signs Five Fighters

ONE Fighting Championship has bolstered their ranks by signing five fighters. The promotion announced the signings of Chi Lewis Parry, Ji Xian, Igor Subora, Cary Bullos, and Yohan Mulia Legowo.

The promotion’s next event, titled ONE FC: Rise of Heroes, takes place at the Mall of Asia Arena on May 2. Scheduled to headline the card will be a bantamweight title fight between Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes and Masakatsu Ueda.
