The event, which took place at the American Airlines Center in Dallas on March 15, was sanctioned and overseen by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Of the card’s 26 participants, nine were issued longer-than-mandatory terms including three who were given indefinite suspensions. The most notable was welterweight contender Carlos Condit, who blew out his knee midway through the second round of his fight with Tyron Woodley. A post-fight examination revealed an ACL tear and a partially torn meniscus meaning Condit will likely be sidelined for the remainder of 2014. Jimy Hettes and Robert Whiteford also received indefinite suspensions from injuries sustained during their fights. Surprisingly, new UFC welterweight champion Johny Hendericks only received a 30-day suspension. Hendricks went into the fight against Robbie Lawer with an elbow injury that was later discovered to be a partially torn bicep that required surgery.
