UFC returns to San Jose for UFC on Fox 12 in July

The city of San Jose, Calif. will once against host a live night of UFC action when the promotion returns to the SAP Center on July 26 for UFC on Fox 12. UFC officials announced the news before the San Jose Sharks contested against the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday, where UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez did the honors of dropping the first puck. Velasquez will not compete on the card, but will help promote the event.

Carmont vs. Dollaway added to UFC Fight Night 41

Fresh off of his recent win over Cezar Ferreira, C.B. Dollaway already knows his next assignment inside the Octagon. Dollaway will now see action at UFC Fight Night 41 in Berlin, where he will face “Limitless” Francis Carmont. Carmont, a training partner of former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre, recently succumbed to defeat against former Strikeforce middleweight champion Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza. The bout will serve as the co-main event of the card, which will see Mark Munoz against Gegard Mousasi.

Assuncao reveals rib injury, anticipates Barao-Dillashaw winner next

Raphael Assuncao revealed on Friday that a rib injury did in fact prevent him from competing against UFC bantamweight champion Renan Barao at UFC 173. The injury came during Assuncao’s bout with Pedro Munhoz at UFC 170, which Assuncao won by decision. A timetable was not given for Assuncao’s return, but the touted contender does expect him to draw the winner of UFC 173’s bantamweight championship headliner.

Riddle vs. “Pele” set for title bout at Titan FC 29

Matt Riddle and Jose “Pele” Landi-Jons will compete for the inaugural Titan FC welterweight title at Titan FC 29, which will take place around late May or early June, though neither the official date nor the location have been confirmed by the promotion. Riddle will come off of a successful Titan FC debut win against Michael Kuiper to take on Landi-Jons, who own wins over Matt Hughes, Alexander Shlemenko, and a host of others. Landi-Jons recently scored a quick knockout win in Brazil and signed with Titan FC after briefly signing with Ray Sefo’s World Series of Fighting.

Rivera steps in against Mizugaki at UFC 173

With T.J. Dillashaw promoted to the new UFC 173 main event against champion Renan Barao, Francisco Rivera will step in to face Takeya Mizugaki at UFC 173. Mizugaki currently rides a four-fight winning streak, including recent wins over the likes of Nam Phan, Erik Perez, and Bryan Caraway, and has not lost since a UFC 144 loss to Chris Cariaso. Meanwhile, Rivera stands at 3-0 with one no-contest in his current UFC stint.
