Matt Manzanares (Jeff Sherwood/Sherdog)RFA 14 Gets New Headliner as Visa Issues Force Leandro Higo Out of Title Fight The MMA Corner Staff April 1, 2014 News, Spotlight The 14th event from Resurrection Fighting Alliance has a new headliner. Visa issues have forced Brazilian flyweight Leandro Higo out of his title clash with Matt Manzanares. Stepping in for Higo will be his countryman, Junior Maranhão. RFA 14 takes place on Friday, April 11 from the Cheyenne Ice & Events Center in Cheyenne, Wyo. The night’s main card will be broadcast live on AXS TV beginning at 10 p.m. ET. Manzanares, a Wyoming native, will get his second crack at RFA gold at the event. The flyweight was last in action at RFA 11 in November where he fell short against current UFC combatant Zach Makovsky. The loss snapped a two-fight winning streak inside the RFA cage for Manzanares. It also marked the first time that the former Junior Olympian boxer had gone five rounds in his MMA career. For Maranhão, the title fight will mark the first time he’s competed outside of his native Brazil. The Guarujá native is currently riding a six-fight winning streak with all six victories coming by stoppage. Fighting out of Bronx’s Gold Gym, the 21-year-old has not tasted defeat since 2011. In all, RFA 14 will feature 12 bouts. The seven professional bouts will be divided by the six-fight main card and a lone preliminary card bout. Five amateur contests will kick off the action.
